Quad Blog!!

Hi! My name is Anwa, nice to meet you all! I am an eighth grade student at Ruamrudee International School (RIS)  Bangkok, Thailand. My favorite subject is Language Arts and Social Studies, because it is very fun to learn how to improve your English and learning about the past is even more interesting. Normally, school starts at 7:15 and ends at 2:40. Due to the flood situation, school was closed for 3 additional weeks. So now, school starts at 7:00 and ends at 3:25. It have been a really tiring week for us, but this weekend, we have one additional holiday, because it is the King's birthday which is on December 5.  I am look forward to read and comment on some of your blog post. ^^

~ Identity ~

Since the beginning of school, back when it was my first day as a 8th grader. Our very first topic for LA class was identity. Identity plays a very important role in our lives, it's what makes you, you. My identity would be an average middle school student who is nice, gentle and calm. It's the story of a boy who is trying  to master a language while learning new concepts all the time; it is the story of a boy who have been in RIS for 3 year and it is the story of a boy who like to work collaboratively with other and loves to learn new things. This is pretty much my identity, but this isn't the end yet.
In school, my teacher often make us do a project or a piece of work that needs to be done together, for example the Science Expo project or the Language arts rubric that we needed to turn it into our own words. This is the type of work that I love to do, as I said I really enjoy working in groups rather than doing it Independently. The advantage of  working in a group is that you can get things done easier and faster, you can have fun with your friends while working and especially when you don't understand something, your classmates are there to help you out. For me, it is way better when working in a group than doing it all by yourself, but, you'll get to that point where you you have to do things all by yourself too, a good example would be a test. I know that you can't do a test with a partner, but before the test, you can study together with you friends.
This is how school work relates to my identity. Other people identities might be different from mine, so what? I can't change anyone else identity except for myself. So don't be afraid of  showing your identity to the world. You can't chose the way you want to be born, but you can change the way you want to be like. Identity is what makes you, you .....

Who Are You?? Movie Project

Hi! My name is Anwa, nice to meet you all; I’m in 8-1 I study at Ruamrudee International School (RIS) in Bangkok, Thailand. In my LA class I was assign to make a video about myself, including the categories family, friends, media and so on (You’ll see what categories I have chosen when you watch my video). This video is mainly about who I am, so it will tell you about me, my family, my friends, and things in my life. There’ll be many pictures of me, my family, friends, school, media and more. It took me a really long time to do it, I had some difficulties too, but in fact I learned more things and it was really fun. Please enjoy my video!!

(Sorry for posting it late)

Metacognition
Metacognition is when you’re thinking about your own thinking, like you think about why I’m I thinking about this. For example when you’re doing a test, you must think wisely about your answers and make sure that it is the correct answer. In my experience is when sometimes when I fight with my parents or my friends, I have to think what I’m I going to do next in order to solve this problem instead of making it worst. In this case Metacognition is really helpful, it helps you evaluate you problem solving strategies. It makes me solve my problem and end it faster, on the other hand if I didn’t think about what I was saying or doing I might have got in a worst situation like in a fight. Metacognition really helps you, if you know how to use it; it will be a really good strategy for solving problems.
